Big Us, Little Me
Acts 2:44: “All the believers were together and had everything in common.”
Early Christians loved to be together. The experience of Christianity was so new and exciting to them, they wanted to celebrate their faith with other believers. To first-century Christians, Church wasn’t a once-a-week thing. It was an everyday occurrence.
The first Church was characterized by a “we” mentality. Those who had something to give shared it willingly. They wouldn’t think of enjoying a full pantry while their fellow believers went hungry. If someone needed shelter, others opened their homes. If someone needed money, others sold stuff to get it so they could give it to them. They demonstrated “Church” the way Jesus meant it to be–vibrant, alive, supportive, loving, giving, sharing, fun.
Would you like to help your Church become more like that one? Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
- Invite people from Church into your home.
- Share something you have with someone who needs it.
- Linger after each service and meet someone you don’t already know.
- Go to a Church function in addition to Sunday morning Worship service.
- Offer to serve in a specific ministry.
As you open yourself up to your Church, an amazing thing will happen. You’ll see your Church more as a family and less as an institution. You’ll discover the joy God intends for His people to experience.

UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENT
Sunday, September 15th. Summer is basically over, the kids are headed back to School or have already returned, and once again we get ready for another year of ministry here at Calvary.
To celebrate that and to initiate our Fall Quarter we are having an End of Summer Celebration on September 18th .
Bring your lawn chairs, favorite outside game and a picnic-themed dish to pass and join us as we celebrate with a Picnic-themed Fellowship Dinner right after our morning Worship Service. ☺ Stay and enjoy the food, fun and fellowship with your Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
